We could see a shock death on Emmerdale this Christmas, one actor has teased.
Ryan Hawley, who plays fan favourite Robert Sugden on the ITV soap, has confessed viewers will see “a threat to life” this festive period. While he hasn’t detailed who this is or who is involved, he hinted at danger on the way.
He did give away that Robert was linked to the plot, confirming it’s an anxious time for the character. So does it involve his husband Kev Townsend and Robert’s soulmate Aaron Dingle?
It seems it definitely involves Aaron in some way, given Robert hinted at a difficult time for Robron. In fact whatever happens will kick off in the lead up to Christmas, but it seems more drama lies ahead in the New Year and in time for the soap crossover with Coronation Street, dubbed Corriedale.

Speaking to Inside Soap magazine he shared: “It’s not a very easy time for Aaron and Robert this December. The events leading up to Christmas and New Year into the Corriedale special are very high stakes.”
Teasing how his character is feeling around this time, while remaining coy over the events, Ryan said things get dangerous. He shared with the publication: “Robert’s state of mind around Christmas is panic, very anxious. There’s a threat to life this Christmas.”
What he hasn’t shared is what leads to the danger or what it is, only that someone could die. So will tragedy strike the village this Christmas and into 2026?
It comes as Ryan and co-star Chris Coghill, who plays Kev, hinted their storyline could reach a dramatic end. With a special episode airing next week, we finally find out what went on when Robert was locked up.

It’s been teased the episode will reveal new details and feature unexpected twists, while Chris and Ryan hinted that their storyline could have a “dramatic climax”. Ryan said: “There’s one particularly very nice little twist that neither of us knew about until I read the script.
“I remember reading it like and I was like, whoa, because no one had told me that was something that had happened, and it is massively pivotal. As far as we know, no one finds out about it so there are some interesting things that they’re sewing in this episode for things potentially leading forward.”
