Coronation Street fans ‘work out’ Glenda’s new love interest – and he’s a familiar face

Coronation Street fans want Glenda Shuttleworth to embark on a new romance with a Weatherfield resident, after actress Jodie Prenger shared her hopes that Glenda would find love

Glenda Shuttleworth on Coronation Street could be set for a huge new romance twist if fans get their way.

As actress Jodie Prenger told The Mirror she wanted Glenda to find love, viewers had their say on who she should get with. Fans are convinced, or hopeful, that one Weatherfield resident in particular will sweep Rovers barmaid Glenda off her feet.

Fans say it would be the comedic duo we need, and they’ve got it all planned out. Viewers think Glenda should and could end up with Ryan Connor, even giving the name Glendan.

Jodie had told us: “Maybe one day Glenda can find love. Either love, or Glenda can get a dog, or a cat. I’ve already got three cats and seven dogs at home. Maybe Glenda can open an animal sanctuary. We’ve just found the dog, Boris, who’s gonna have a walk-on part. Glenda could have a cat.”

Now fans want to make it happen, and think Glenda and Ryan could be the real deal. One fan said: “GIVE GLENDA A LOVE INTEREST AND LET IT BE RYAN CONNOR.”

Another fan agreed: “We like Glendan,” as a third replied: “Yes. I say yes.” A fourth fan commented on the idea: “Yes! Could you imagine Ryan inviting Glenda round No 6 for dinner? Could be comedy gold.”

Another post read: “Yes! Taking on Chariot Square Hotel once Debbie is no longer able to & continuing to run it as fabulously as she would want it running, because they love her. And that brings Ryan & Glenda closer together, good humour match & both kind souls who deserve happiness.”

It comes amid Jodie teasing new scenes for Glenda and some new faces on the Cobbles. Jodie is thrilled to have her pal Catherine Tyldesley back on the ITV soap, after her return as Eva Price last week.

Teasing what we can expect from Eva and the Driscolls, who now own The Rovers, she said: “I love the character of Eva. She’s bubbly, fun and everything that makes her someone Glenda would be great mates with.

“Maggie Driscoll, played by Pauline McLynn, is amazing, oh my God. We filmed a scene the other day and Glenda wasn’t supposed to be happy but because Pauline is so good I was standing there smiling.

“You lose yourself, you forget you’re filming a scene, but she’s so brilliant, they all are. It feels like they have always been there in a really good way. The fun, the warmth, the comedy. So just tune in because you’re not gonna be disappointed.”
